Introduction

Hello there, and welcome! My name is Dr. Sahar Naghibi, and I am a licensed naturopathic physician located here in Seattle, WA.

A little bit about me: I’m originally from Washington, D.C., and I moved out west in pursuit of naturopathic medicine. Somewhere along the way, I fell in love with the ecosystem of the Pacific Northwest. I love the versatility of adventure here- all within less than a couple hours of travel,  I can hike through lush rainforests, foraging juicy berries in the woods,  cold plunge in Salish Sea, or just enjoy a fresh oat milk latte indoors on a grey Monday morning, as I write my first blog post.

I’ve been fortunate to have incredible mentors here, and it’s important for me to stay local and draw upon those resources during my first year in practice. I didn’t want to isolate myself in medicine. I wanted to work within a village—alongside brilliant physicians, bodyworkers, acupuncturists, and others. Healing really does take a village- and rarely do we heal in isolation.

I completed a two-year primary care internship at Seattle Healing Arts, where I covered everything from cardiovascular disease to minor surgery to sexual health. Upon completing my internship, I was invited to begin my own practice at Seattle Healing Arts.

My parents and my sister are still on the opposite side of the country, and the weight of that distance haunts me every day. But I decided to stay in Seattle for now because there is a dynamic energy here that I know and need to see through.

Now, at Seattle Healing Arts, I practice naturopathic medicine and see all sorts of patients—from those with digestive health concerns to autoimmune conditions and cardiometabolic health. But what I’m most interested in is chronic disease. I’m particularly drawn to understanding why your body is manifesting certain symptoms, as they’re often a sign that something beneath the surface needs attention.

I am passionate about practicing a medicine that is both elegant and simple. A medicine that honors your body’s innate healing mechanisms, while also providing it with the best modern medicine has to offer. In my practice, the tools that I find make the biggest impact on health are dietary evaluation, botanical medicine, and homeopathy. Then as needed I bring in supplements and pharmaceuticals as a next line of support as needed, if needed.

The bottom line is to promote a sustainable method of bringing you back to health and then maintaining health as you get older.  If you accidentally get a cut on your finger, your body should begin its processes to heal the wound all on its own accord. If it doesn’t, it’s the physician's role to figure out why the normal laws of nature aren’t working. Do you have an infection that's preventing normal healing? Is there something dysfunctional about your body’s clotting mechanisms? Or was the wound so severe that it requires medicine to promote the function of proper  healing mechanisms?

I’ll be writing a more in depth blog post about naturopathic medicine soon. But for now, I just wanted to give an overview of my philosophy as it pertains to who I am and how I practice.

When I’m not seeing patients,  I love adventuring in the great outdoors, catching live concerts,  reading, meditating, foraging & herbal medicine making, practicing archery, and working out.

If you’ve made it this far, I want to thank you for being here at the beginning of this journey- I’m so grateful to have you along for this incredible ride!

Until next time..

Be well,

Dr. Sahar Naghibi
